Effecting Change...

What I have been doing is small compared with some of what my colleagues have stated on their blog sites.

I am sharing my self-created lessons with my team members but am also incorporating background knowledge in the science lesson plans and offering websites  and videos to enhance the lessons. Since this is my first year teaching at this grade level, I am venturing cautiously among the veteran teachers.

I’m not much for politics but I do engage in conversations now and again with people I know fairly well. I like to be able to ask a question without ridicule. SO, as I read Friedman’s article, I focused on paragraphs six and seven. My parents were factory workers but valued education and gave up a lot so I and my siblings could attend college. My folks didn’t cry, “poor-mouth” because we didn’t drive a BMW, we were happy to have a car. Period. We had a practical lifestyle; a home, food, and love.

If I’m getting Friedmans’ gist, I think taking care of ourselves is a purposeful and necessary duty. As a country, we should be taking care of business at home, too. Our country seems to have a firm grasp on space exploration which should continue for strategic planning. I fear the countries, with nuclear arms, that do not favor the U.S. and believe they should be our nation’s main focus at this time.
